music :: introduction
I've been playing bass guitar for over 20 years. When I was learning to
play, I was often dissapointed at the lack of quality educational
resources for bass guitarists, so I decided to create one. Then I
discovered the web and turned my binder full of notes and diagrams into a
site for bassists. That spread into other online music projects, described
below:
James, Not Jim
jamesnotjim.com is a "band" site devoted to my bass-centric, instrumental music

Wheat's BassBook
Online since 1997, my popular guide to playing the bass guitar is widely regarded as the best free bass resource on the net. I'm currently working on a print edition, which I intend to publish.

Bassplaying.com
I develop, administer, and host a community site for bass players. There are forums, lessons, interviews, and other good things to check out. If you're a bass player, join us.

rec.music.makers.bass FAQ
I host and maintain the frequently asked questions (FAQ) file for the rec.music.makers.bass usenet newsgroup. I used to be active on that group. That's not the case anymore, but the FAQ site gets a lot of traffic from internet bassists.

Bandography
A rundown of bands I've played bass for over the years. There are mp3 files for many of them, and links out to the websites of bands that have one (including a few archived sites of bands that are now defunct).

Wheat's GuitarBook
I launched this site to help a few friends learn to play lead guitar, so I thought I might as well put it online for other people who don't have sense enough to play bass. This project launched on 06/25/05). It's not a priority, but it will expand over time and probably look a lot more like the bassbook eventually.

Wheatlabs
My home studio, such as it is, needed a name of some sort. I decided to call it "wheatlabs" (notice a trend here?) and I threw this page together to give a run down of the recording projects I'm working on and the gear I use to record and splice together the digital goodness.
